Sunday School
Mission Statement
To build a biblical foundation and carry the good news of Jesus Christ,
our Lord and Savior,
to the lives of children to lead them into
a life changing, ever growing relationship with Him.
Overview
Sunday School is a weekly opportunity for children from Pre-K to High School to learn about the Gospel, God's love, the teachings of Jesus, and Old and New Testament Bible scripture in a safe, fun and informative environment. Within Sunday School, the children learn age-appropriate Bible-based teachings that help to bring the love of Jesus alive. The Nursery is open during Sunday School for the youngest children to learn about God and Jesus through play.
Children practice Christian songs lead by the Church Music Director which they sing for the congregation on keys days of the year, if they wish to participate. Every year the Sunday School prepares a Christmas Pageant and Children's Day Church Service; each is shared with the congregation during a Sunday morning worship service.

Primary School Class​

Teaching Bible literacy, memorizing key Bible scripture, cultivating virtues such as respect and kindness and helping children apply these to their daily life through a Bible lesson which may include an activity, craft or interactive game in a fun and structured environment.

Helping children understand their identity, who they are in Christ. Students read the Bible passages and are led by two teachers in discussion often using games, role-playing and hands on activities to bring practical applications of the lessons to life, and to foster connection and deepen their faith in Jesus.

Equipping teens with faith that lasts by applying Bible truths to daily teenage life, helping students develop strong practical Christian values. Rather than just hearing the Word, students experience it through discussion-based, interactive and relevant lessons. The curriculum helps students apply the gospel teaching to complex and sometimes stressful life situations by grounding them in biblical truth.

The High School class meets before church from 10-10:45 am in the upstairs Sunday School classroom.
High school students may then attend church for the worship service at 11 am.

Biblical Accuracy
Our Sunday School uses the Faith Weaver Now curriculum which takes students through the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, every three years, ensuring a comprehensive overview of biblical history and events. The use of this curriculum provides an opportunity for children to gain a deep understanding of the Bible and how it applies to their lives. It is further designed to help children grow their relationship with and faith in Jesus through interactive learning that focuses on heart change, rather than just head knowledge.

Transparency
Our Board of Christian Education believes that transparency is important between educators and families. Teaching God’s word to children, consistently using the Faith Weaver Now curriculum helps us to be transparent with families about what your children are learning each week. A summary of each lesson is published in the monthly Church newsletter and posted for all to see on the Sunday School hallway bulletin board as you enter the sanctuary.

Synchrony
Synergy
The goal is to facilitate conversations about the lessons between siblings and friends no matter the grade level, and by posting lesson summaries, thereby also amongst families and members of the congregation to support children’s growth in faith, fellowship and our unity of being one body in Christ.

As part of a cross-age curriculum, high school students study the same weekly Bible theme as younger siblings. Each classroom’s weekly Faith Weaver Now biblical lesson is written specifically for the children’s stage of development.

Bible Memory Verse Time
Following the Kids of Integrity curriculum, children in the Primary and Intermediate classes learn a Christ-like characteristic each month, such as respectfulness, peacefulness, loving and faithfulness, and a corresponding Bible memory verse. The Bible memory verses are learned to music with the church Music Director. The goal is to help children understand God’s character, to use the help of the Holy Spirit to build Christ-like character in their own lives, and to imprint God’s words on their hearts so they may call upon them throughout their lives, as often as they need.
As Bible Scripture 1Corinthians 3:6-7 reminds us, the children are the soil, the teachers plant the important seeds of faith in their hearts, families and congregation can help water, but ultimately it is God who makes faith grow.
What to Expect: Sunday Format
Before Worship
The High School class meets before Sunday worship from 10:00AM to 10:45AM in the upstairs Sunday School classroom.

Sunday Worship begins at 11:00AM
Children sit with their caregivers for the beginning of the worship service and will experience the call to worship, singing of hymns, passing of the peace and listening to the choir anthem. The congregation welcomes and appreciates the presence of infants and children amongst them in the sanctuary.

Children’s Moment (around 11:20AM)
Pastor Tom then invites the nursery through middle school aged children to sit together in the front of the sanctuary to hear the Children’s Moment message where he often introduces the lesson for the day or the Bible memory verse they are studying. At the close of his message while the children go with their teachers to Sunday School, the congregation sings the children on their way.
Start of Sunday School
Nursery and Middle School students, along with their teachers, then enter their Sunday School classrooms. Primary and Intermediate students and their teachers first gather in the fellowship hall near the piano for Bible Memory Verse time and singing joyful biblical songs with the church Music Director. Primary and Intermediate students then go to their classrooms for the Bible lesson and
activity.
Dismissal
Nursery children are picked up from the nursery room by their caregivers at the end of the worship service. Primary to Middle School students are dismissed from their classrooms and rejoin their caregivers in the fellowship hall between 12:15 and 12:30pm, when their lessons conclude.
Key Dates
Rally Day is held the Sunday after Labor Day in September and kicks off the Sunday School year.
The Christmas Pageant is held the Sunday Worship service before or after Christmas. Children present to the congregation the Nativity Gospel found in the Bible books of Matthew and Luke.
The Sunday School Singers (Primary and Intermediate students) present songs to the congregation around Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Palm Sunday and Mother's Day.
The Junior Praise Choir (Middle and High School Students) help select and present to the congregation during a few select worship services Christian music, often with their own guitar, saxophone or other musical instrument accompaniment.
Children’s Sunday Church Service is the first Sunday in June and closes the Sunday School year. Each classroom presents to the congregation, a Bible theme they learned that year.
Summer
The Nursery is open during the summer for the youngest children after the Children's Moment.
Children of Primary and Intermediate ages then join in the Intermediate classroom to continue with the Summer Faith Weaver Now curriculum.
Middle School will remain in the sanctuary for the full church service.
